General Election Hustings – Science, Research, Technology and Innovation

The Foundation for Science and Technology, Royal Academy of Engineering, the Academy of Medical Sciences, the British Academy, the Campaign for Science and Engineering, and the Royal Society, hosted a joint general election hustings event. 

Representatives for science, research, technology and innovation policy from the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat parties outlined their party's election position on science, research, technology and innovation, and answered questions.

The panel featured Stephen Metcalfe, Conservative former member of the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee, Chi Onwurah, Labour Shadow Industrial Strategy Minister, and Sam Gyimah, Liberal Democrat Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy spokesperson. The event was chaired by Pallab Ghosh, BBC Science Correspondent.
