Communicating science: how do we talk about what we do, and does it work?

Scientists and technologists are increasingly expected to communicate what they do, whether to the public, policymakers, funders, journalists or colleagues outside their own field. But communicating complex ideas clearly is not always easy, and simply putting information out into the world does not mean it has landed.
In this webinar, members of the FST Future Leaders programme will explore what effective science communication looks like, how we adapt what we say for different audiences, and how we know whether our communication is actually working.
The discussion will consider the balance between accuracy and accessibility, the role of trust and storytelling, how different platforms shape the way science is communicated, and what happens when communication goes wrong. It will also ask a more fundamental question: are we spending enough time listening to our audiences, rather than simply getting better at talking to them?
